Notice on the impact of the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on Certificates of Free Sale (CFS) for cosmetic products.
The UK’s accession to CPTPP entered into force on 15 December 2024 and 8 members have now ratified the UK’s accession to CPTPP.

New EU carrier data requirements from April
Starting on Tuesday 1 April, road and rail carriers must provide data on goods transported to or through the EU before their arrival. This includes postal and express carriers, as well as logistics providers.

Germany Meat Import Ban
An import ban on selected German fresh meat and dairy products is now in place due to a confirmed foot and mouth disease case.

Export wine: self-certify wine produced in Great Britain
To export or move wine that's produced in Great Britain to the EU or Northern Ireland you must self-certify it before you export. Your self-certification will confirm your wine complies with EU regulations. You must attach your self-certificate to your consignment of wine when it is exported.

Ivory Act protections come into force for four more species
From 28th January, Hippopotamus, narwhal, killer whale and sperm whale have greater legal protection under the UK’s world leading Ivory Act.
The Act will now ban the importing, exporting and dealing in items containing ivory from these magnificent animals - previously the Ivory Act only covered elephants.

The Secretary of State for Business and Trade has accepted the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA)’s final recommendation to revoke a safeguard measure on Category 2 steel products.

US trade policy changes: Steel & aluminium tariffs
From 4 March, tariffs of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminium will apply, including to steel derivatives. The UK’s existing tariff rate quota arrangements will remain in place until 12 March.
Reciprocal tariffs policy: From early April, the US will implement a tariff reform targeting tariff differentials and non-tariff barriers such as VAT.
