New rules on GB to NI parcel movements and customs processes have been postponed from being applied at the end of September until the end of March 2025.

The easement on checks for medium risk fruit and vegetable imports into GB has been extended by government until 1 July 2025. This is a temporary measure prior to Ministers evaluating the impact of border controls and impacts upon key import supply chains.

The Windsor Framework's new parcel and freight arrangements, originally set for 30 September 2024, have been delayed, with businesses now expected to be fully prepared by 31 March 2025.

Introduction of UK-wide labelling of meat and dairy products

The UK government will not proceed with the introduction of UK-wide labelling of meat and dairy products in terms of the new phase of Windsor Framework compliance measures. The new requirement will be that affected goods moving from GB to NI will require to be labelled, but not goods circulating only in GB.

EU new Deforestation Regulation

The EU has postponed the implementation of its new Deforestation Regulation which would impact upon UK and other non-EU exporters. For larger firms, the new rules will apply from the end of 2025, and for SMEs, from end of June 2026.

The intended waiver for Safety and Security declarations on EU imports that was set to end on 31‌‌‌ ‌‌October 2024 has been extended until 31 January 2025.
