INTERNATIONAL TRADE DEPARTMENT UPDATE

Welcome to the October edition of the Essex Chambers of Commerce International Trade Newsletter! As the global marketplace continues to evolve, international trade remains a vital engine for businesses looking to expand their reach and drive growth. In this edition, we aim to equip Essex businesses with the latest insights, trends, and opportunities that will help you navigate the complexities of international commerce.

This month, we focus on emerging trends in key markets, including changes to General Product Safety Regulation, and tips on navigating inward & outward processing, trade, workshops, and events designed to help you connect with international partners.

As always, the Essex Chambers of Commerce is here to support you at every step. We encourage you to take advantage of the wide range of services and expert advice available through our International Trade team.

Expanding Knowledge & Connections

Since the last issue we have welcomed many attendees to deepen their understanding in a range of subjects with our International Trade education programmes. Participants engaged in either our Trade Expert Training or Trade Expert Academy where they gained valuable insights into topics such as Letters of Credit, Export Procedures & Documentation and Commodity Codes.

One recent, and particularly interesting course in our Trade Expert Academy was the International Trade – A Journey Through Time & Trends module, which took attendees on an immersive journey through the history and evolutions of international trade. Learning about the history of trade, from ancient barter systems to the interconnected markets of the digital age, helped participants to understand the forces that have shaped global commerce today. If you would be interested in partaking in this or any of our other Trade Academy courses, please visit our website or contact us to learn more.

Last month we also helped our attendees to expand their network in our Trading with Japan Webinar. As part of the UK Chamber of Commerce Expo 2025, Osaka programme, in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan this webinar explored the wealth of trade opportunities available to UK businesses in the Japanese market.

As the world’s 3rd third largest economy, Japan with the stability of its market, its large, wealthy, and highly educated consumer base, and the good business ethics of Japanese companies make it an attractive trading market for UK businesses.

The International Trade Team are always open to utilising our connections within the International Chamber Network to facilitate events like these where introductions can be made to overseas markets. Visit our website to discover the next exciting opportunity.
