TRADE UPDATES FROM THE BRITISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE

This month's updates from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC)
► The BCC was briefed by the Director-General for Trade Negotiations, at the Department for Business and Trade, on the latest progress in trade negotiations affecting markets from India to the Gulf Co-operation Council.
► William Bain, Head of Trade Policy, was a keynote speaker at the Essex Global Summit in Colchester, organised by Essex Chambers of Commerce and Essex County Council, reflecting on the challenges and opportunities for UK trade and investment in the rest of 2024 and beyond.

► The BCC took part in a joint meeting of the UK and EU Domestic Advisory Groups on the economic and trade relationship. We raised the issue of identifying priorities for strengthening of the trading links between the EU and UK.
► The BCC met with the European Commission’s DGTAXUD, Director for Tax co-ordination and direct taxation, in London, to discuss issues of common interest such as carbon border taxes.
► The BCC held discussions with the economic and trade team from the US Embassy, on key trade policy issues of common interest such as subsidies, tariffs, and the Atlantic Declaration.
