
This month's updates from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC)
► On Saturday 9 March, William Bain took part in a panel discussion for the EU Heads of Mission to the UK during their weekend retreat. Discussion focused as expected on the future of the UK-EU relationship and also on contemporary issues in global trade.
► William Bain participated in a UK-Turkiye business roundtable in London to mark the launch of the UK-Turkiye trade negotiations. Read their reaction to the launch and the prospects of improving our bilateral trade with Turkiye.
► William Bain joined the new Industrial Goods Market Access and Rules of Origin Policy Forum with UK trade officials and other businesses. Discussion ranged from new tariffs on UK car exports to Canada from 1 April to rules of origin negotiations with India.
► William Bain met with the Trade Agreement Utilisation from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). They discussed how to ensure that SMEs can extract the full benefit from UK trade agreements in terms of preference usage and export intensity.
► The BCC has been appointed to the new Critical Imports Council which is being established on imports policy issues by DBT. The initial meeting is set for mid-April, chaired by a Minister.
