INTERNATIONAL TRADE DEPARTMENT UPDATE

Welcome to the March issue of our International Trade Newsletter, where we navigate the currents of international trade to bring you insights, analysis, and opportunities from around the globe. In this issue, we embark on a journey through the ever-changing landscape of global commerce, shedding light on the trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the future of trade.

Trade Facilitation Forum

Angela Turner, our International Trade Manager, had a great time in Birmingham at the British Chambers of Commerce Trade Facilitation Forum at the end February. The two-day event was packed with informative speaker sessions and engaging workshops as well as being an opportunity for Chambers around the country to come together and share ideas and good practice. One workshop was particularly insightful as the groups discussed new services Chambers could offer our Members and what the future of documentation looks like.

At the end of the first day attendees heard from Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the BCC, who was very enthusiastic about the role Chambers play in businesses today. The following morning, the Forum was addressed by the Netherlands Chambers of Commerce who are driving the ICC Genesis Project, a digital certifying tool that is currently being trialled by a few Chambers across the country with a view to rolling it out in the future.

It was great for Angela to meet up with so many Chambers, of varying sizes, from across the country. It’s always so interesting for our department to engage with these events and learn from the practices and ideas of others.
